Training Kasisi Agricultural Training Centre (KATC) offers a variety of courses in or related to sustainable organic agriculture (SOA).These courses are suitable for small scale farmers, school teachers, extension staff, community based extension workers and leaders among others.

The basic principles taught in these courses provide wide flexibility to enable application under different bio-physical (environmental), economic and social environment. All courses have high practical content with KATC’s production units, research and demonstration plots providing facilities/opportunity for hands-on training. The one day tour to a practicing farmer/institution included in all the courses further helps to expose the trainees to the practical real life application of the knowledge acquired through the training.

All the courses and materials are regularly reviewed and updated, enriching them with tried and verified information from the KATC’s production, research and extension sections as well as elsewhere.

All courses include sessions on cross-cutting issues. These are issues currently affecting small scale farmers such as HIV/AIDS, gender, GMOs and climate change. KATC draws its trainees from all three agro-ecological regions of Zambia as well as from neighboring countries.
