Diploma in Agroecology

The Programme is offered currently in two years to qualified professionals, the aim of the course is to prepare graduates that are creative and innovative designers of food productions systems that are highly productive, ecologically friendly, resilient and therefore sustainable. They help as well to adapt and to mitigate to climate change. They are able to deal with numerous challenges faced in today’s food production systems

Goal

  • To understand the structures and functions of complex Agroecology systems.
  • To build knowledge in farming and food systems that provide food sovereignty.
  • To educate visionaries for future food systems that have strong values and good skills.
  • To link practice to theory.
  • To develop individual and group skills through cooperation with farmers, professionals, and consumers.

  • Permaculture design in Agroecology
  • Fruit tree production and management
  • Agroecological Vegetable Production
  • Plant Protection in Agroecology
  • Agroforestry and Beekeeping
  • Farm Management
  • Agroecological Plant breeding
  • Seed Technology in Agroecology
  • Community-based Extension
  • Product quality and Food Processing
  • Farm mechanization and rural structures.

Courses are offered in a remote study model with online lectures 3 weeks in a semester are reserved for residential training at Kasisi.

Target Group

Qualified professionals from universities, private enterprises, government, agencies, and NGOs working in the field of environmental sciences, agriculture, extension, and development.

Tuition Fees

Fees are K6000 per semester. There will be some scholarships offered to deserving candidates covering 60% of the fees.
