On the 24th of September 2024 Kasisi Agricultural Training Centre (KATC) paid a courtesy call to Nkhosi Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni speaking people, this came ahead of the Multiplier Support Programme (MSP), close out event which was scheduled for the 25th of September 2024.
Chief Mpezeni thanked KATC for training 40 Government Agriculture officers in Sustainable organic Agriculture (SOA).
He also encouraged the trained officers to religiously share the knowledge gained from KATC with the farmers in order to improve agriculture productive in eastern province.
Knowledge Hub for Organic Agriculture in Southern Africa in collaboration with KATC has been running the MSP in the eastern province for two years in the districts of Chipata, Katete, Lundazi and Chadiza.
The program aimed at developing and building capacity among extension officers, general workers and technocrats under the Ministry of Agriculture, in Sustainable Organic Agricultural practices and Facilitation Skills.
In addition to the training offered, the multipliers also developed knowledge products to aid them when teaching farmers. These knowledge products include a manual, brochures and posters. To help with the effective dissemination of information, the knowledge products were translated into Nyanja the local language.
